ADVICE FOR USING COMPUTERS
- BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU CLICK – some bad guys are very sophisticated in their ability to construct emails that appear perfectly legitimate. If you receive an email “from your bank” or “from the IRS” – go to a web browser and login or contact those organizations through a completely different method. NEVER CLICK AN EMAILED LINK!
- DON’T “UPGRADE” or “UPDATE” SOFTWARE JUST BECAUSE IT’S THERE – MAKE IT A GOOD REASON : Some upgrades are to fix security flaws or massive problems with a certain program – these would be a reasonable change, so do those – Windows Updates, Flash Updates, and MS Office Updates — ALWAYS DO THESE! With that said, if your program (Dentrix / Practiceworks / Quickbooks / Pro Tools / Photoshop …etc…) is functioning properly, and you are fine with how it works now then wait awhile on the upgrades – it might make the program function differently, have new bugs that effect your work, or it could cause problems with OTHER programs on your system. I like to wait a bit and get word from people who have done it already!
